Prof. V. Gopi Krishna
Professor V. Gopi Krishna, MDS, PhD is an academician and clinician of international repute in the field of endodontics. He completed his bachelor’s degree (BDS) in Dentistry from Annamalai University in 1997 and went on to complete his Masters degree (MDS) in the field of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in 2002 from the Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai. He was conferred the Best Postgraduate Student Award by the Indian Endodontic Society in 2002. He went on to complete his PhD in the field on Endodontics from Dr MGR Educational & Research Institute University in 2017.
Dr Gopi Krishna is the Founder - Director of the Root Canal Foundation – an exclusive endodontic practice cum training centre based at Chennai, India. Root Canal Foundation also conducts its flagship endodontic training modules at Yangon (Myanmar), Guwahati (India) and Bhubaneswar (India) along with collaborative partners.
He is the Editor of six textbooks including Grossman’s Endodontic Practice and Sturdevant’s Art and Science of Operative Dentistry – South Asian Edition that are read by more than 30,000 students annually. He is currently serving as the Editor in Chief of Endodontology Journal and as the Associate Editor of European Endodontic Journal. He is also the General Secretary and Clinical Examiner for the Indian Board of Endodontics, the only certifying board for the specialty of endodontics in India. He was also the Editor in Chief of the Pubmed Indexed Journal of Conservative Dentistry (www.jcd.org.in) from 2008 - 2016. He is a prolific researcher who has won more than 20 national and international awards and has more than 60 pubmed indexed publications including international publications in reputed journals like Journal of Endodontics, Operative Dentistry, Australian Endodontic Journal, Oral Surg Oral Path Oral Med & Endodontics and International Journal of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr Gopi Krishna has been conferred with the Fellowship Award of Indian Society of Dental Research for his discovery of the ingenious use of Coconut water as a medium for transport of avulsed tooth. One of the pioneers for using Dental Operating Microscope in India, he has immensely contributed to the evolution of microscopic endodontics by training more than 1500 dentists across Asia. Dr Gopi Krishna has lectured globally and has presented 250 + invited podium lectures and is the Global Education Coordinator for World Endodontic Association - IFEA. He is the organizing secretary for the 12th IFEA World Endodontic Congress to be held in India at Chennai in September 2020.
